Fall 2009 Online Silent Auction

We are excited to announce the launch of our Fall 2009 online silent auction! The bidding will begin on August 28, 2009 and close on September, 11, 2009 at noon. See the directions below for a brief overview on using our forum, what to do if you are a winner, and a list of our sponsors. To go directly to the auction, click HERE to start bidding.

How to use the Silent Auction Forum

  1. Go to the Silent Auction Forum (a new window will open).
  2. Review the list of items available for auction.
    • To view the list in alphabetical order, scroll to the bottom of the list and select
      "Sort by Subject" and "Ascending".
  3. Click on the item listed to view more details including a description, photo, retail value and minimum starting bid.
  4. If you wish to bid on an item, register for a free account (or login if already registered).
    • Click "Register" on the top right of the screen.
    • Click on "I agree..."
    • Enter a username, email address, password, and complete the puzzle. Then click "Submit."
    • A confirmation email will be sent to your email account. Click on the link to verify your information, and you are ready to bid!
  5. To return to the CSI Silent Auction Forum, you can always navigate to the item list from any page by clicking on "Board Index" or "CSI Silent Auction" on the top left menu bar.
  6. To bid on an item, click on "Post Reply" and enter your amount. If you are the first bidder, you will need to start with the minimum posted at the bottom of the description. Otherwise, you can increase the bid (with minimum $1-2 increments). You do not need to put additional information in the post; your username will automatically be provided to identify you).
  7. Continue to bid if you wish to win the item. You may either continue checking the site, or subscribe to notifications of new bids. To subscribe:
    • While you are on the page of the item you wish to keep track of, click on "Subscribe topic " on the bottom left menu bar. You will then start receiving email notifications with each new bid.
    • To stop updates or change your subscription preferences, click on "User Control Panel" on the top left menu bar.
    • Click on "Manage subscriptions" in the Overview menu on the left.
    • To return to the auction, click on "Board index" on the top or bottom left.
  8. At the completion of the auction (noon on September 11, 2009), all items will be locked and no additional bids can be made. However you will still be able to view the items.

What to do if you are the final bidder

The final (highest) bidder will be contacted via email by one of our Fundraising Co-chairs to make arrangements to collect payment and deliver your item. You may schedule to pick up your item in 1215 Norman Hall or discuss possible delivery elsewhere.

You may pay by cash or check. Please make your check payable to "Chi Sigma Iota Beta Chapter" for the amount of your final bid. If you desire to have the item mailed to you, please include the cost of postage and provide your mailing address with payment. Your item will be mailed to you upon receipt of payment.
